In 1996, near the St. Francis Monumental Complexil was inaugurated the State Archeological Museum, thanks to the joined dedication of the Archeological Superintendencefor Marche and of the municipal administration.
Setted up, restored and updated, in the Historical Centre of Arcevia, offers a representative documents of the most important archeological areas and sites located in the territory of Arcevia from prehistory to the roman age.
The museum is made up three principal halls :
In the first are exposed the lithic artefacts of Ponte di Pietra (20.000 years ago), from the Paleolithic age;
In the second hall are exposed the materials of the famous defensive trench of Conelle (IVth millennium a.C.), from the Eneolithich;
In the third hall are visible various products from the Cava Giacometti and, above all, from the site of Monte Croce-Guardia, from the final Bronze age (XIIth-Xth century a.C.)
The last part of the exposition is dedicated to the gallic Sepulchre (IVth-IIth century a.C.) and the sanctuary of Montefortino.
Are exposed finally 2 stump of stone, two of wich found in the territory of Arcevia and the third in the territory of Fabriano.
The guided visits are opened for all and the schoolchildren use it continually.
